I believe this website to be so informative and relevant to digital storytelling that I have used in my commentary and critique section of my assessment. The site Educational uses of Digital Storytelling offers a brief overview of digital storytelling and the goals and objectives for both teachers and students, a step by step process of how to create a digital story, examples of digital stories from K-12 educators of every degree, a Comprehensive software and hardware tools page, an evaluation page that describes research on digital storytelling, as well as resources and partners page that is growing with exponentially. It’s a must for anyone getting into Digital Storytelling.

I have been trying to find something that represent the benefits of digital storytelling in the classroom. I believe this figure convergence graphically demonstrates how digital storytelling can combine four student centered-learning strategies into instruction.

A recent post made by lena suggested that she wanted teachers to be wary of the sensitivity of children’s when they show their movies etc to the public for viewing. This is a relevant issue when it comes to my chosen field of Digital Storytelling. Teachers do have to make students aware that their peers and other people can view their stories, therefore students themselves will need to be sensitive to other students stories.

While searching blogs pages looking for interesting concepts I have come across Michelle’s blog and the newspaper publishing website. This is very simple but very effective tool to assist in the publishing of students work. Check out my story and what I’ve said below.

Having been looking at many videos and articles on digital storytelling I have found one example posted by a 3rd grade teacher Mrs holderbaum. This example shows how we as teachers could use digital storytelling as part of a teaching sequence in education. Using this type of teaching method in the classroom offers an alternate medium for students to interact with. Children can work on this project collaboratively, or it can worked on individually and in there own time. Therefore again impacting positively on student engagement, technology integration and project based learning. Download Video: Posted by jaimejoyh at TeacherTube.com.

I have just watched the video on Matt’s blog page. I agree with his statement that if not all students in the class had access to an ipod, this could definitely could create inequality in the class. However I recognize the ability for this technology to enhance student engagement as I own and use an Ipod regularly to store, download and share things like music, videos and all kinds of information.

This teacher blog page from Teresa Almeida d’Eça has been used as very effective teaching resource in her class. This particular blog on thursday, 14 June 2007
is an example of how she has used the activities that they completed in class to publish to the public and allow the rest of the class access to see it. This is a great way to make activities interactive for students, and getting them involved in class activities. Using this resource also adds another media for teaching and learning and also for different learning and teaching styles.
